Disneyland Fireworks

I love staying at Disneyland until they shoot off the fireworks but because we hate traffic we rarely stay that long.. So I got the chance to shoot some pictures of the fireworks and wanted to share them with you.

The World's End

So I was able to catch the newest Simon Pegg movie the last in the trilogy. It's other films were Shaun of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. I enjoyed both of the other two, so when I was given the chance to catch this one for free, I, of course did not turn it down.

I went with my movie buddy, my boyfriend. We try to see everything that comes out in theatres, because well we are both movie buffs and television buffs, so we also watch a lot of tv together. I was excited to see this one because we both liked the preceding two. Lots of fun and thought why not give this one a shot. Also we were being given the chance to see it for free by the local newspaper hours before it came out. So that was also a plus, but that doesn't change my opinion on it, we would have seen it this weekend anyways if it hadn't been for the fact that I got offered the free tickets. They didn't ask me to review it, I just like reviewing stuff.

Now I don't drink beer and I don't get the appeal of getting hammered really on a regular basis. Yes it can be fun to go out every once in a while and let loose but really not my type of thing. I do understand time with friends and if that's your piece of pie more power to you. That's what the film revolves around is a group of friends going out for a last hurrah quite a few years after the last time they attempted to go the golden mile (a lap around 12 pubs). Now here's the kickers there is alien robots.. yep. Since each of the films has had them fighting something, this is what they are fighting this time.

The jokes are funny and entertaining, the characters are interesting, the plot unfolds and isn't terrible. I enjoyed myself a lot. It's not something I would watch again in the theatres, but definitely something I would recommend to friends who like humor and enjoyed the others in the trilogy.

Beauty Con 2013

This last weekend I went to Beauty Con in Los Angeles at the Siren Studios. I didn't know what to think when I went because I had never been and I am learning that all the conventions have there own feel and ways of doing things. Each can be so completely different that it is hard to measure them up to each other.

I got to the studio at around 10am.. It opened at 10am and at 10:30am we were still wrapped around the corner waiting. The line was waiting and probably 500 deep. My friend showed up and had a plus one to get me inside. So luckily I got to get inside by 10:45am. If I hadn't had the chance to get in that early I would have missed out on a lot of the freebies they were giving away. Like many conventions if you don't get in early you miss out on all the good stuff.

I first walked over to the Bare Minerals Booth because they were giving away make unders. They added a bit of bronzer and lipgloss. They gave me a free fullsized mineral veil. I was actually excited since I had just gotten a free deluxe sized sample from my local Sephora.

Afterwards I went upstairs and got spun the wheel over at LuLu's and won a NYX white eye shadow pencil. I love the white and needed some white so it worked perfectly for me. I went on my way up to the lounge. I created my very own pair of flip flops. I thought it was pretty cool. It didn't dry very fast so I hope that they stay put together. Then I went over to the BareMinerals vending machine and got some of the new mascara and some of the Moxie lipstick. I really love the lipsticks.

I went to leave and they had the opportunity to buy the VIP bag for a $10 and I picked up one for myself.

Another Evening at Disneyland Resort

So last night on a spur of the moment the boyfriend wanted to go to Disneyland. Now I will never turn down a chance to go to the park, even though my feet were a little sore from my heels. So off we went for a night at Disneyland. I really wanted to go on Indiana Jones since they just updated it. In my opinion now you can understand it less.. but I don't know maybe that's just me. We also went on Star Tours and got the 2nd of 4 different scenarios. I had no idea that was something that it did. I guess I missed the memo.

We also saw Stellar perform over at the Tomorrowland Terrace. I think it's really smart that they added in the bands. It gives the adults something to do.

We went on Buzz Lightyear and for the first time the boyfriend beat me.. LOL.

Overall I had a wonderful time and wanted to share pictures with you. I have some disney themed giveaways coming.

Mortal Instruments City of Bones

So I am a big YA reader. I admit it. I love to read and even more so Paranormal YA books. (except Twilight, not touching it). So when I heard a Cassandra Clare book was being turned into a movie I was pretty excited. I had not read it at that point yet, but I really like her writing style. I ended up getting a copy of the book from Crowdtap. They sent it to me to read before seeing the movie. That was pretty awesome. My stepson has asked if he could read it, now that we have seen the movie.

The movie came out on my birthday August 21st. So that was on the agenda after going to lunch with my nana, we hopped on over to the theatre. Crowdtap again sent me movie cash so that I could see the movie. So I was happy about that. I love saving money. It was 4 of us seeing the movie.

I wore a Tripp NYC Mortal Instruments cosplay outfit. It was supposed to be like Isabella's first dress in the film/book. Though in the movie the dress has a ton more lace. I might add the lace to make it more authentic, but I had tons of people coming up to me at the movie theatre totally excited over the dress, so that made it a lot of fun. I really love dressing up.

I really enjoyed the film. Of course they changed things from the book to the movie, but that is expected. There is one thing I found strange in both the movie and book, but it's kinda a spoiler so I am going to leave it alone. The story is well written. The special effects were done nicely. I really enjoyed the way the characters came together.

I thought Jace was kind of a hottie. I guess I like that look though. Lol.. Clary looked great in her shadowhunter get up.

So I was playing around a bit in makeup and did this for the event. Hope you like it.

Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay

So Stacy Jay came out with a new book, which is a twist on the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. I was lucky enough to get an Advanced Reader Copy of the book at SDCC. I love to read, so I figured I would start sharing with you the books I read, please in the comments share with me a book you love, I love to find new authors.

So this book is about a girl with peeling skin who is blind and the queen to a land that lives under a dome in a place where the world is falling apart and the people outside the dome are monsters. Monsters sneak into the dome to steal the Roses that they believe possess magical powers and keep the dome from destroying itself and keep the people looking human and healthy. He gets captured and she saves him from being murdered because he promises her he can make a garden that will heal her ailment and save the people in her city that live with part of the monsterous disease. She soon learns that not everything is as it seems.

Like the real Beauty and the Beast, of course our Beauty falls in love with the Beast and sees him as more then a monster. Together they change the world. I don't want to give away too much because it unfolds nicely and has some interesting plot twists.

Blurb from Amazon:

"In the beginning was the darkness, and in the darkness was a girl, and in the girl was a secret...

In the domed city of Yuan, the blind Princess Isra, a Smooth Skin, is raised to be a human sacrifice whose death will ensure her city’s vitality. In the desert outside Yuan, Gem, a mutant beast, fights to save his people, the Monstrous, from starvation. Neither dreams that together, they could return balance to both their worlds.

Isra wants to help the city’s Banished people, second-class citizens despised for possessing Monstrous traits. But after she enlists the aid of her prisoner, Gem, who has been captured while trying to steal Yuan’s enchanted roses, she begins to care for him, and to question everything she has been brought up to believe.

As secrets are revealed and Isra’s sight, which vanished during her childhood, returned, Isra will have to choose between duty to her people and the beast she has come to love.

Stacey Jay also wrote Romeo Redeemed and Juliet Immortal.

If you like YA pick up a copy of this book it's well written interesting and fun.
