Beauty Con 2013

This last weekend I went to Beauty Con in Los Angeles at the Siren Studios. I didn't know what to think when I went because I had never been and I am learning that all the conventions have there own feel and ways of doing things. Each can be so completely different that it is hard to measure them up to each other.

I got to the studio at around 10am.. It opened at 10am and at 10:30am we were still wrapped around the corner waiting. The line was waiting and probably 500 deep. My friend showed up and had a plus one to get me inside. So luckily I got to get inside by 10:45am. If I hadn't had the chance to get in that early I would have missed out on a lot of the freebies they were giving away. Like many conventions if you don't get in early you miss out on all the good stuff.

I first walked over to the Bare Minerals Booth because they were giving away make unders. They added a bit of bronzer and lipgloss. They gave me a free fullsized mineral veil. I was actually excited since I had just gotten a free deluxe sized sample from my local Sephora.

Afterwards I went upstairs and got spun the wheel over at LuLu's and won a NYX white eye shadow pencil. I love the white and needed some white so it worked perfectly for me. I went on my way up to the lounge. I created my very own pair of flip flops. I thought it was pretty cool. It didn't dry very fast so I hope that they stay put together. Then I went over to the BareMinerals vending machine and got some of the new mascara and some of the Moxie lipstick. I really love the lipsticks.

I went to leave and they had the opportunity to buy the VIP bag for a $10 and I picked up one for myself.

Beauty Collection Newport Beach Grand Opening

So Saturday the 18th was the grand opening of the newest Beauty Collection in Newport Beach. This is the first store in the Orange County. It was a very nice grand opening.

I got there super early. I was expecting a crazy early morning crowd because of the value of the giftbag they were giving away. But lately, the crowds seem to be slowing down everywhere. But in my showing up early I ended up befriending another lady who had the same idea as me and wanted to be the rush, so I had someone to chat with for the almost 2 hours until more people started showing up. So we were one and two in line, guaranteed our goodie bags. I had a wonderful time meeting people.

We had some women ask us if the line was starting, they wanted food and there was no one else around so we said we'd save them a spot, they ended up being gone a very long time, making us worry since we didn't want any fights with other line goers for space. Luckily there was no problems. The women were so sweet to us, they bought us each a Sprinkles cupcake. I had a vanilla cupcake, huge and tasty.

As the day got closer to the opening and the line started to get longer, the store was so great to all us ladies sitting in the sun. Every 5-10 minutes they were bringing us out water to make sure we were hydrated. They even brought out little containers of sunscreen to make sure we were all kept sunburn free. (except of course I didn't put enough on and my skin is super burned. I am feeling a bit silly since I don't usually stay in the sun, so having bright red skin is not a good thing for me). They walked around and gave us samples while we waited.

They gave us tickets for the first 57 (they added 7 extra bags, because they had too many people show up and they were so nice and tried to accommodate as many people as they could).

The two o'clock mark hit and they let everyone rush the store. It was a little bit cramped in the store. I walked up to the counter got my bag full of all my goodies, and then purchased a bottle of the OPI Liquid Sand from the Couture Minnie collection.

I walked outside, met up with the friends I had made and we all walked over to Bristol Farms and had lunch. Hopefully we will all be hanging out again soon.

So let me show you the goodie bag.

There are so many products in the bag, full size and deluxe sample size and travel size, there are GWP - gift with purchases, and so much more. I couldn't believe my eyes when I had opened up the bag. You can see me showing off all the things inside the bag, here

Ipsy May 2013 Glam Bag Revealing

I loved the idea of subscription services. I fell in love with them at Birchboxes big release with Smashbox Cosmetics. I found Ipsy a while ago, but I kept pushing off subscribing. I finally joined up last month and this is my second bag. I love it.

So this month the theme was Spring Fling. There were quite a few different bags that they sent out. So there were different things that you might get in your bag. There was a lot of things I was not looking forward too.

Here is my Unveiling Video on Youtube

So the bag is really pretty I like the stripes on it. I like the way it looks. I will definitely be using it to hold some of my small makeup items. I love the bags you get each month with Ipsy. It's great if you love makeup bags.

Then I got the St Tropez body glow lotion deluxe size in One Night Only. I am not really a tanner, so I don't think I will ever use it. I might try to swap it out for something else.

Next I got Mirabella lipstick in Posy. It is a beautiful red color. I was really happy that I got it because it was one of the things I wanted from this months box.

I got a gorgeous Juice Beauty lipgloss in pink. I haven't tried it yet but I have really great things about the brand though.

Then I got Zoya's nail polish in Blu. It's a very pale blue. I am starting to love Zoya, I hadn't really liked them before, but I am slowly getting more of this polish.

I got a Yaby concealer in Buff, I think it might be a bit too yellow for me.

Then they gave me a Urban Decay eyeshadow in Space Cowboy for being a part of the community. I thought that was pretty awesome. I don't own very much Urban Decay but my small collection is growing.

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Glinda

So I didn't get the Urban Decay Glinda palette, I wanted it but couldn't justify the price when I have soo many eye shadows already. But I was given the Glinda lip color pencil by a friend.

The color is a glossy mauve color. I like it, I don't love it but I really prefer bright pop colors, so I didn't think I'd love it. I think my mother will like it since it is more neutral so I will most likely pass it on to her.

The color goes on really smooth and has great coverage, it's definitely a winner for the neutral look. So if you are looky for a nice toned down color, Urban Decay has a nice one. (though I'm not sure if you can get it outside of the OZ palette, but the palette itself is totally worth it if you are a Urban Decay fan).

Eye Kandii Cosmetics - First Indie makeup review

Today I have the pleasure of showing off some makeup I bought off Etsy.

The shop is http://www.etsy.com/shop/EyeKandiiCosmetics. I was searching for samples and kits to try out some small companies makeup and start writing about smaller brands and give me the chance to play with things I haven't had the chance to enjoy when I ran across her shop and picked up some samples because I liked the colors. I got a eye shadow sample grab bag that contained baggie samples and a product. Now I'm a sucker for surprises and since I'm wanting to try things I thought why not go this route and let her be my first review.

I got the products really quickly. They were waiting for me after work less then a week after I ordered. I was excited and opened the envelope. To my excitement there were lots of goodies to enjoy. I got a blush, a lip gloss, an eye shadow and samples. Not all the samples are labeled but that's fine by me. I can't wait to try them all. wear it on my lips for a full day.. but trust me that day is coming. :D

So first off we have the lip gloss. It is called Coral Kiss Lip Treatz Vinyl Lip Gloss. I am in love with the color. In the container it looks Neon Pink. If you know how much I love neon you'd be excited too. Here's a swatch of the color. I LOVE IT. It looks like shiny glossy lipstick. It comes off clean. I like the feeling of it. It feels moisturizing. I haven't gotten the chance to wear it on my lips for a full day.. but trust me that day is coming. :D

Next is the Jelly Bounce Blush in Honey Tan. Right off the bat I know it is far to dark for me as a blush. The color is almost a bronze color, very pretty. It seems to dry quickly so I can't use it as a eye shadow which I sometimes do with blush. I use everything for everything, lol.. but I might use it as a highlighter for myself. It has a nice creamy texture and feels soft going on. I really like it. The container I got is 20g and contains Vitamin A and E. So I like it and will find a use for it for sure. Not the best picture.

Next up is the eye shadow I got. The color is green and it is called Mojito. I already like it. LOL. The jar is completely full glad I didnt have it tipped when opening.. Haha. I'm bad about that. The color going on is a light shimmery green (dry) or a more neon looking light green over primer. (I used Elf eyelid primer.) The picture on top is the primed eye shadow and the bottom is the dry eyeshadow by itself.

I'm not going to do the samples today. Since I don't have any mini ziploc baggies to put them in once I cut them, so there will be another post on them.

Over all I am extremely pleased with what I purchased and I can see more eye shadow and lip vinyl in my future. I can't wait to try other colors out.

So go over and check out her shop, it's worth the money and you are helping someone pays bills and thats a good thing :)

Yves Saint Laurent in Le Orange and Le Rouge Flamme ( a sephora exclusive)

I am in love with this seasons jump on the orange wagon, I am an orange kinda girl. I was wearing orange before it was the in thing.. same with neon colors.. Im addicted.

So when I ran across these colors I just had to check them out. They are so beautiful. I love how vibrant the orange is and the red really shows off. I love the way they go on so smooth and stay on. I had a hard time getting the swatch off my hand. I love lipsticks that stay on. So great sign for Yves.

I am falling in love with Yves Saint Laurents colors because they stay put, stay vibrant and are worth the cost you are paying.

You can check out Sephora's website to pick up these lovely colors or stop by Sephora and check out everything.
