DIY Crayola Crayon Lipsticks first run

So I have seen people do this on youtube and I have been wanting to try it out. I decided to go out and purchase some items to make this work. It's the first time I had tried it so I stayed in the non scary realm of things and just used 3 simple colors Pink Carnation, Red Violet and Red Orange. The next time when I get more containers I will be putting in some essential oils and mixing the colors to get more fun colors I haven't tried.

I bought a box of Crayola Crayons, a bottle of Coconut Oil, a bottle of Pure Olive Oil and 2 bowls to mix everything in.

It is really simple, just pick a color. I first choose Pink Carnation. Unwrap it. (I forgot to take a picture of the pink unwrapped). Next take a half tablespoon of Olive Oil and a half tablespoon of Coconut Oil. Take the crayon break it up and put the bowl in the microwave. I did it for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, but I was constantly checking up on it. Didn't want to over cook it. Then I took it out of the microwave and stirred it up a bit. Then I took a spoon and spooned in a little at a time quickly. (I got better as I went) into the container I had available. Then I repeated each step for each color. I took lots of pictures and I plan to do a youtube diy for you all soon, but for now here's my learning attempts.

It goes on a little waxy, but I'm ok with that since this was my first attempt. I already ordered other stuff to try out. It smells like crayons in the container but doesn't really taste like crayons (maybe a little waxy tasting but not really), and I can't smell any smell when it is on my lips. I did get some essential oils to help with the smell for next time. I can't wait to make and mix tons of colors. I just made the world of lipstick an infinite place for me.

Have any of you all done something like this yet? Did you enjoy it?

The Croods movie review and makeup look

So I have been watching movies a lot lately and I wanted a reason to talk about them. Then I thought why not do makeup looks based off of them and then I have a reason to talk about them. YAY.

I went this weekend and saw The Croods. My mothers boyfriend wanted to see it, and he had just taken us to see 42 and bought me a BuildaBear (I feel like a little kid again lol) so I was all for it. Even though I wasn't sure I wanted to see it because of the mixed reviews I heard from people. I did see some funny parts in the trailers so I thought I must give it a try.

The movie is about a caveman family named The Croods, who must give up everything they know to escape the end of the world. The daughter finds a boy named Guy who helps them on the journey who is also in search of Tomorrow, his idea of paradise.

The movie has some funny parts, and there are some cute characters written in. We all had a laugh, belt was cute, there was some good one liners. A lot of the funniest parts of the movie were in the trailer. That's usually my biggest fear with comedies is trailer talk up. When all the best parts of the film are in the trailers. I hate it. This movie was kinda like that. Not that it was unbearable to sit through but it was just about what I was expecting. Not really my cup of tea, but not so bad that I didn't like it.

The animation is well done, the scenery is gorgeous and fun to watch. The animals they created were beautiful. I loved the Saber Tooth Tiger he was so full of beauty and colorful. I am already looking at Fur Dyes for snotti. I think she would be gorgeous.( I won't really mostly because she is an old kitty and I'd rather she enjoy life then be annoyed at me.)

Overall the movie was a bit too overdone for me. I mean would I watch it again, sure if my little cousins wanted to watch it, would I choose it to rent on a movie night, No. If you have little kids they will enjoy it and you won't hate it and might even laugh some at the film.

So I did some bright vibrant looks for the film since it is full of life and color.

I used Orly Razzamatazz, Essence Snow White Collection Doc, Kat Von D Sparklehorse, Pretty Polished Martian Salad and Pretty Polished Pool Party. In that order thumb to pinkie.

Yves Saint Laurent in Le Orange and Le Rouge Flamme ( a sephora exclusive)

I am in love with this seasons jump on the orange wagon, I am an orange kinda girl. I was wearing orange before it was the in thing.. same with neon colors.. Im addicted.

So when I ran across these colors I just had to check them out. They are so beautiful. I love how vibrant the orange is and the red really shows off. I love the way they go on so smooth and stay on. I had a hard time getting the swatch off my hand. I love lipsticks that stay on. So great sign for Yves.

I am falling in love with Yves Saint Laurents colors because they stay put, stay vibrant and are worth the cost you are paying.

You can check out Sephora's website to pick up these lovely colors or stop by Sephora and check out everything.

Sinful Colors -Summer Peach and wet'n'wild - gray's anatomy - Review

I am having more fun then I can say playing with nail polishes. I don't paint my nails everyday. I have been testing how long nail polishes stay on. I have to say I am really impressed with the staying power of Sinful Colors and wet'n'wild's fast dry nail polishes. I have had them on for 4 days now and there is almost no chips (and I think I've said before I am super rough on my nails).

I bought the Sinful Colors - Summer Peach because it is a bright neon orange. I am crazy about orange and neon's so I had to get it of course. I mean its vibrant, bright, and just calls out to you. So I put it on my nails and sadly it washed out my skin and looked so bad. So being me, not wanting to give up, I grabbed the other color I bought wet'n'wild's Gray's Anatomy and put a coat on top and BAM I had found it. The color neutralized the orange to a beautiful shiny flame like color and just radiates gorgeous. (Soon Soon, I promise when I get my new expensive camera I will post new pictures)

I am still new to playing with nail polishes so yes so far, there is nothing special other then colors, but soon, soon I am going to be trying and getting to the cool fun stuff. You can come on my journey with me.

NYC's In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish

Today I found 2 colors by NYC's In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish

I found Pumpkin and Greenwich Village

I am like how smooth they go on and especially how quickly they dry.

Here is some swatches.. I'll put up better pics when I can take some.

Pumpkin is the Orange - its sparkly up close, I only put on one coat, i might do a second coat later to see if it gets brighter. Its not very bright unless you are up close.

Greenwich Village is the bright pink. It is almost a neon color and very pretty.

I like both colors and soon will start designing more exotic looks.

Enjoy!!

Update: Things I am learning about myself.. I am way too hard on my nails. They are all chipped up after about 5 hours out and about and an hour of swimming.

But this says something for NYC nail polishes - they stood up in a swimming pool. That is not something that every nail polish can say.
