Captain America Winter Solider

Now I know that most if you know I am a giant geek. I love marvel and I have been patiently waiting for this film for what seems like far too long.
I almost didn't get to see it last night because my favorite movie partner got called into work and was supposed to work until 4am... So I had just decided I would see it next week when I got back from Vegas since I leave tonight for Vegas for a conference.
But while I was cleaning up our new apartment and fixing up our new bed he walked in the doors about 45 minutes before the midnight showing. He came home early to surprise me, which was awesome. We grabbed my mother and took her along because she really wanted to see it. She loves Captain America.
Now I won't give away any spoilers even though I want to talk forever about what I think will be happening with Avengers Age of Ultron.
The story is interesting and the plot twists and keeps you interested and on your seat. The characters new and old are lovable or hateable, either way they are well written and you want the bad guys gone and you root for the good guys.
The fight scenes are extremely acrobatic. I loved that because it made them look almost theatrical and over the top but fun and exciting.
We get to meet a few new characters who are added into the universe, we get to learn more about characters from the past franchises.
If you were thinking about the film but couldn't decide to go see it on the big screen do it. It's fun, funny and an all together great show to see.

Michael Morones Foundation Charity Event at Metropolis Comics in Bellflower, CA

So I was asked by the group I work with if I would be interested in cosplaying for a charity event being held at the Metropolis comic book store to raise money to fight bullying for the Michael Morones Foundation. If you don't know who he is, he was a young boy who really loved My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and considered himself a brony and was bullied to the point that he tried to commit suicide. You can read more about it at this link: http://www.michaelmorones.org/

Being a geek most of my life, before geek became chic and being a huge My Little Pony fan and the fact that I am strongly for helping putting an end to bullying I jumped on board. So I cancelled my plans and jumped into my Kevin Cosplay and we went down to the comic book store. What I didn't know was that on top of the 15 or so cosplayers I knew were going was the large amount of comic book artists who gave there time to be there at this event and were doing sketches for donations to the foundation.

I am constantly impressed with the geek community and the way that it comes together to do things for those in need or to support good causes.

Michaels grandmother even showed up at the event and we all got the chance to talk to her and show her our support. I would love to do more with the brony community to help end bullying. I am very big into charity and I am even the co founder of a Cosplay charity so you will constantly find me doing charity work.

They had raffles and a ton of great stuff including a signed original page from a my little pony comic. I ended up winning 2 graphic novels and a book about Jack Kirby, the Captain America artist. Overall I had a fabulous time, a lot of money was raised by all the attendees and people got some great artwork.

Agents of SHIELD new tv show

Now as many of you know I am a huge Comic Book geek so the Agent's Of Shield was on my number one list when they announced it last year.

So I have been watching the show and I am really excited with all the tie ins and what they can do with the story lines of upcoming movies. It makes me more then excited.

I really like Skye. She is an interesting character. I really can't wait to see her story unwind.

Right now this is one of my favorite shows on tv. :D

Are you watching?

September Loot Crate 2013

Now I had heard so many amazing things about this company and since I am a giant geek I gave into the temptation to try it out. I mean a box full of geek stuff how could I say no.

The box it comes in is very cute.. I love the inside of the box and if you are a gamer you should recognize the code.

The first item in the box was a talking plush Stimpy doll. I loved Ren and Stimpy as a child. He is beyond adorable. I am really glad I got Stimpy cause I was much more his fan then of Ren.

Next up was a Donatello from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made by Funko. Now I am in love with the Funko toys. They are beyond adorable, big eyes and cute faces. I love them. I also love the TMNT. I am super excited for the new movie.

Next was the Stewie griffin cinnamon lip balm. I love lip products and I love Family Guy so this made me smile. I might trade it for the Yoshi one if someone has it, if not than its being mailed to my Dad. He is the biggest Family Guy fan.

I admit I grew up on the Simpsons and even though lately it has gotten a bad wrap for losing its edge I still love the show. I got The Simpsons KidRobot keychain blindbox. My blindbox held Lisa.

Last but not least was the smaller items in the box.. stickers, magnets, the little booklet about whats in the box. I love the "It's Over 9000" sticker and the StormTrooper TMNT PopArt magnet..

So overall I am in love with the box. I will be posting my unboxing video on youtube in the next couple of days. I hope that if you decide to take the leap you will enjoy it as much as I do.

My latest shopping haul OMG

So Sunday after Generation Beauty my mother and I decided to have dinner with her boyfriend, since I had monopolized her time because of the event. So we drove out to his place and when we got close, he called and said that he wanted to go to Red Lobster. I will never say no to Red Lobster. I love lobster and crab and those cheddar bay biscuits. I got some Lobster Bisque and Lobster Mashed Potatoes.

While we were there he said he wanted to take me to Best Buy to grab a harddrive. Sadly they were closed, so we went to Victoria's Secret and picked up 4 bras for my mother and a Angel Hoodie. Then we ran over to this little kiosk that had the cutest kitty cat dress.

As we were walking past Hot Topic the girl working there, saw me wearing the Tardis dress and told me I had to see the newest dresses they got. It was a Dalek dress, I was in love. Then because if you spent $30 you got a $15 off your next purchase. So he let me also grab a Star Wars dress, that was the picture of a poster. I was in love with it. So I got 2 geeky dresses and a kitty dress and a VS hoodie with wings. I am in love with it all.

I think I am going to continue building my geeky dress collection. It's constantly growing.

Star Trek Into Darkness Review and Nail design

So last night I went out to see Star Trek Into Darkness with my boyfriend and his son. I hadn't wanted to see it yet because I hadn't seen the first in this new series. Now I am not really space fan, I know a weird statement to make but it's how I've always felt. Lately though I have been slowly getting more interested in space, galaxy nails are so beautiful and I love them. Makes me want galaxy print leggings. I got into star wars clothing, specifically more R2D2 then anything, and Princess Slave Leia. So I mean I wanted to see the new Star Trek I just wasn't ready, but today was his day off and he found out what film this was supposed to follow from the older series and was really hyped to see it. I figure I can always watch the first one later.

The film is all about Captain Kirk and his crew and the battle between good and evil that comes to bring on a giant fight against the Starfleet.

I was really happy with the script and the acting. I was expecting it to be slightly more campy. I really enjoyed Zachary Quinto's Spock and the character choices he made. Benedict Cumberbatch was a fantastic villain and great in the way he makes you dislike him and feel for him. Chris Pine is a wonderful Captain Kirk, I love how he plays the fearless, authority pushing captain.

The story line is really inviting and interesting and flows well. The characters are great together and they work to grow on each other. I loved that about the film.

I am beyond excited that the way geek films are going that we are seeing more and more well made films coming out rather then the cheesy films that we used to get. I am in love with the way things are going. I can not wait for the next film Man of Steel to hit the theaters.

So here is the first of my nail art I did for Star Trek. I did just a little logo mark. My phone (soon I will be getting a new camera, everyday I get closer to having a real camera again) was taking sadly not the best pictures, but I hope this will suffice.

This is my engineer look, red shirts if you will. I am still undecided if my next cosplay will be red, blue or yellow. I am thinking Red or Blue. I really loved the attention to detail in the costuming of the film. The fabric they used had little logos in it to make up the outfits. So I have to find the same material. But I will for surely be making a dress. I really enjoyed the film. My boyfriend and I are going to start watching the original series and a movie night with the original movies just for fun (After I get him caught up on Supernatural, Dr. Who, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, True Blood and Game of Thrones, lol)

I will be doing other looks soon.
