Michael Morones Foundation Charity Event at Metropolis Comics in Bellflower, CA

So I was asked by the group I work with if I would be interested in cosplaying for a charity event being held at the Metropolis comic book store to raise money to fight bullying for the Michael Morones Foundation. If you don't know who he is, he was a young boy who really loved My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and considered himself a brony and was bullied to the point that he tried to commit suicide. You can read more about it at this link: http://www.michaelmorones.org/

Being a geek most of my life, before geek became chic and being a huge My Little Pony fan and the fact that I am strongly for helping putting an end to bullying I jumped on board. So I cancelled my plans and jumped into my Kevin Cosplay and we went down to the comic book store. What I didn't know was that on top of the 15 or so cosplayers I knew were going was the large amount of comic book artists who gave there time to be there at this event and were doing sketches for donations to the foundation.

I am constantly impressed with the geek community and the way that it comes together to do things for those in need or to support good causes.

Michaels grandmother even showed up at the event and we all got the chance to talk to her and show her our support. I would love to do more with the brony community to help end bullying. I am very big into charity and I am even the co founder of a Cosplay charity so you will constantly find me doing charity work.

They had raffles and a ton of great stuff including a signed original page from a my little pony comic. I ended up winning 2 graphic novels and a book about Jack Kirby, the Captain America artist. Overall I had a fabulous time, a lot of money was raised by all the attendees and people got some great artwork.

Happy New Year

So last year I told myself that I would write 365 blog posts. I didn't get that close, but I didn't didn't do too bad. I wrote 281.. That's not bad in my book.. that's close to 5 times a week.. Just missed it by a couple of weeks.

This last year was crazy for me I went back to school full time, I work full time, I run an online business, and I run a cosplay charity. I think sometimes I need more hours in a day. So sadly the last couple of months with everything I fell behind. So I am sorry. And I missed you guys.

So I am going to make it up to you with a giveaway with week. I will see what I have to share with you and start it up.

My new years blog resolutions are pretty simple and run the way they did last year.. I would like to write 365 blog posts. I would like to share more with you all about my passions and in turn learn more about your passions. I would like to see the numbers here grow. I am always excited to see that Bloglovin' is over 100 people. My facebook page is just under 5000 and my twitter is in the 11k zone.. so we are always moving up.

So tell me how did your New Years go? I hit up Disney California Adventure and played a bit of World of Warcraft.. and now I'm catching up on blog posts and thinking about the new year.

Well I won't stay here too long, my voice is completely gone so I am going to get some rest but see you all soon.

Love ya,

Kitten

D23 YAY.. now the 2 year wait.

So D23 ended 5 days ago.. and I have been so bogged down with school that I haven't had a chance to upload pictures. But I have 2 weeks of no school before I start school again for the fall so I am trying to get up on this.. but of course I am also trying to get everything else in order.

My friend was going to go as Russell from UP so I told him I would make a Kevin costume. I was so busy with school that though lots of planning went into it. I didn't finally start on the costume until Thursday before D23 (we only went Saturday) and I am truly pleased with it. I will be redoing some parts of it but the costume was a huge success. People kept coming up to us all day taking pictures and exclaiming how much they loved the costumes. We signed so many waivers to be featured on websites and were interviewed for tons of stuff. I am sooo happy with the weekend. The next convention coming up is Comikaze and I am getting myself ready for that with 3 costumes. It really is something I truly love doing.

We only went in one part of the Convention.. Mostly because I knew if I hit the sales room I would be broker then I am now. There was so much I wanted to buy, but didn't need.

There was so many cool things to see and do. I got a Litho of Tinkerbell autographed and I got the cutest toys. They had a scavenger hunt that was pretty awesome.

So here's some pictures of my costume and other awesome people in costumes.
